By now if you've been following the Tesla 3 introduction you've seen plenty of video and pics from the official unveiling last week in Los Angeles.  But what we haven't seen...until now...was the company's new Model 3 driving around during the day in a public venue.  Youtube user 'Tesla Motors Fans' has posted the above and below videos which show just that.  Above you see a silver model driving in what appears to be the Marina Del Rey area of LA while being filmed by a camera attached to a silver Model S in front of it.  Is this an upcoming Model 3 commercial being filmed?  Could be.

Below you'll see a matte black Model 3 in various pics shown at an unknown location.  Is the matte black a coming color option or is this a Model 3 in black primer before painting?  We're not quite sure but it certainly would be great to have a matte black option to purchase as it looks pretty slick to us!  What do you think?  Let us know in the comments below!

Barely a week after the official unveiling of Tesla's Model 3 and the company says they now have 325,000 preorders for the company's new car.  At $1000 deposit each that's $325,000,000 in cash that the company just got interest free to help fund production and represents over $14 billion in sales of the vehicle if all are eventually produced and purchased.  Analysts are calling the Model 3 demand 'unprecedented' for any vehicle before and that it underscored the pent-up demand for a mass market vehicle from the iconic automaker.  Interestingly, other major auto producers are finding demand for their electric vehicles less than stunning as low gas prices over the past year has boosted truck and large SUV sales.  The premium Tesla badge certainly has an allure and the company's track record of innovation and cutting edge technology as well as the cachet of owning a car from Elon Musk's company all certainly are playing a part in the volume of preorders.  Of course one can't fail to mention that the attractive design as well as promised 215 mile per charge and 0-60 in less than 6 seconds even on base models are part of the allure.  Have you reserved your Tesla Model 3 yet?  Let us know in the comments!

A series of tweets in response to some comments about the bare dashboard of the Model 3 has given us some more information about the 'part 2' of the Model 3 that he has alluded to.  Apparently the blank dashboard without any gauges or controls of any kind that was shown during the part 1 unveiling on the 31st was not what the final Model 3 dash will look like.  According to Musk in a reply to a twitter user named Cosmin Davidoaia he replied "Wait until you see the real steering controls and system for the 3. It feels like a spaceship."

On March 31st, Elon Musk took the stage at Tesla's Hawthorne, CA location and introduced the world to the company's 4th vehicle, the long awaited 'affordable' Tesla Model 3.  Featuring a futuristic design that echoes styling of the larger Model S but in smaller form Elon started out the presentation by discussing the need for electric vehicles as a hedge against global warming and climate change.  He then took us on a short history of the Tesla Automobile company and described how the strategy of starting off with the high priced roadster and then continuing the development of the technology in the less costly Model S and Model X had finally led to the Model 3, which was designed from the ground up to be a much more affordable electric car that could be bought by the masses and starting at only $35,000, which is competitive with similar sized gasoline models from BMW, Audi and others.

While many of the technical details remain to be announced at a later date we know that the Tesla Model 3 will have a 0-60 time of less than 6 seconds and get at least 215 miles per charge.  Musk was careful to say that the Model 3 announcement will be in two parts...the exterior could be seen at the announcement but the interiors, which for now seem a bit bare with a dash bare of any instruments and only a large flat screen display showing speed and other readings and controls.  Since the announcement Elon has stated over Twitter that the interior of the Model 3 will resemble a 'spaceship' when shown later this year.  During the announcement on the 31st Elon announced that over 130,000 reservations had already been made online and in stores for the Model 3 and within 36 hours that number ballooned to over 200,000.  In a separate tweet Musk said the company would have to 'rework' some of the planning for production of the Model 3 due to overwhelming demand.   We'll have the latest info as it comes out right here on Tesla3forum.com so make sure to register and let us know your thoughts about the exciting Model 3 from Tesla.

Tesla officially unveiled their Tesla 3 sedan last night at the company's headquarters in Hawethorne, California.  Standing in front of an excited crowd, Tesla founder Elon Musk introduced the company's new auto amid a spectacular light and effects show filled with all the expectation usually reserved for the heyday of Apple Computer.  After a brief introduction and remarks regarding the need for sustainable technology in autos three gleaming Tesla 3 autos drove on stage while an intro video played as backdrop and rousing music drove the audience to applause.

Musk stated the introduction of the '3' will be in two parts.  Last night was the introduction of the sedan and widely expected to be the second part later this year will be a crossover or perhaps small SUV version of the 3, with falcon wing doors similar to the company's Model X SUV.   While many of the specifications on the 3 are still being kept underwraps we know that the sedan will get a minimum of 215 miles per charge and have a 0-60 time of less than 6 seconds.  The car features a gorgeous one piece wrap over glass windshield similar to the X series that geos from hood all the way back to mid-car letting the driver and passengers have a panoramic unobstructed view while driving.  The interior features a large center mounted display for all driving gauges and controls and a spartan, but futuristic looking interior.  Since the car is still in development these 'model 3' are still considered in development and we expect further refinement of the interiors.   The exterior features a swooping Tesla S like look with a bare grill area similar to the Model X and flowing attractive, sexy lines that should allow the Model 3 to compete nicely with such cars as the BMW 3 series and Audi 4000 serie.

The company announced that before the unveiling already 115,000 customers had put down the $1000 deposit to reserve their Model 3 and as of today that number had risen to just under 200,000.  Within 2 years the company expects its gigafactory to be able to produce up to 500,000 cars a year with first deliveries coming in late 2017.   Make sure to come back to tesla3forum.com for the latest news on the Tesla 3 including tons of pictures and video.  Make sure to register and join in on the conversation and be part of the community as we continue to build your Tesla 3 online community!

With the official unveiling of the Tesla Model 3 only hours away, some specifications of Tesla's latest model have reportedly been leaked by an enthusiast website 'eletrek'.  According to a 'source' with close connections to the Tesla company it's reported that 0-60 mph times will be under 4 seconds and an additional 80kwh battery will be available as an option for the Model 3 that will give the car a 300+ mile range.  No word on what the range on the stock Model 3 will be.  Of course there's no confirmation that this leaked info is true but we should have complete info tonight along with pictures and possibly video after the official unveiling of the Tesla Model 3 in California.

One last note.  The official unveiling will be streamed on Tesla's website at 8:30pm PST here: https://www.teslamotors.com/

Make sure to come back to the Tesla3Forum.com to discuss afterwards.
